5G4CAM WG

Our colleagues from LINKS presented 5G-IANA in the 5G4CAM WG on February 12th, in an online event.

The presentation started with a general presentation of the project, its partners and role of each of them, and continued with an explanation about moving towards advanced 5G networking in 5G-IANA. Towards the end of the presentation, LINKS focused on Facilitating automotive network application development and experimentation with 5G-IANA.

ICT-41 Plugfest

In this years IEEE World Forum on IoT, an ICT-41 PlugFest was organised, which aimed to gather developers from all ICT-41 projects in a single location where hands-on integration could take place. 5GASP and 5G-EPICENTRE provided access to their local testbeds, and other testbeds gave remote access.

Our colleagues from LINKS Foundation presented ‘5G-IANA’s Strategies for Network Application Onboarding & Deployment’, as well as a Demonstration fo the 5G-IANA ITS communication nApp on the 5GASP Platform.

See the complete agenda here: 10-13-2023 WFIoT2023 – Schedule and Program for the ICT-41 Plugfest V3.

The demo’s objective is to use a VITAL-5G network application inside the 5G-IANA environment and use it in combination with the nApps that are already in the 5G-IANA environment.

Since in the VITAL 5G testbed there is a whole VM with all the services that are used in that project, we have taken only the desired services from that VM, we have containerized them and then we have uploaded those services on the 5G-IANA testbed, using the 5G-IANA platform.

Depiction of the integration:

IEEE LANMAN

Our colleagues from University of Ulm presented a paper in the IEEE LANMAN. The paper was presented in the context of the Network Architecture session, and it was titled ‘LETHE: Combined Time-to-Live Caching and Load Balancing on the Network Data Plane’.

The paper is accessible through 5G-IANA’s Zenodo community.

Abstract: The paper describes a stateful in-network load balancer for cache objects. In general, a tradeoff arises in in-network caching due to the dynamicity of the requests and the popularity of the objects. The paper describes a time-to-live in-network caching system that is well equipped to accelerate federated learning through in-network model aggregation and caching.

EUCNC 2023 in Gothenburg

5G-IANA participated in the EUCNC 2023 in Gothemburg, Sweden, with a demo session and a presentation.

The presentation was delivered by Konstantinos V. Katsaros, by ICCS, related to Federated Learning Application Enablement for Beyond-5G Intelligent Automotive Services; and it happened in the context of the Workshop ‘Exploring the Intersection of 6G and Artificial Intelligence: Unleashing the Potential of Next-Gen Technologies‘. The workshop explored the intersection of AI and 6G technology, the next generation fo mobile networks and tpromises to revolutionise the way we connect and interact with the world around us.
